Known for her timeless and elegant design, Joke Roos never leans toward one particular design style. She chooses to focus on the needs and characters of her clients before deciding which style suit them best, as the property belongs to them. “Just like the name, Air Putih (plain water), Studio Air Putih has the flexibility to change its form depending on the spatial condition without losing its essence,” she explains the philosophy behind the design studio she built together with her husband, Architect Denny Gondo, in late 2000.

The alumnus of Parahyangan University with Architecture degree has received local and international design awards and is enthusiastic to be involved in this year’s The Colours of Indonesia Five with post-pandemic theme. Joke plans a home library where parents can work from home while overseeing their children’s online learning. This room is part of theModern residence design with nature as her main inspiration. “The key of this room design is finding the yin and yang; functional for the adults, yet fun for children to study in, therefore I go for an amphi theatre park as a theme with a Stonehenge as the desk main inspiration,” she says.
